Hi all! Myself Anirban. For the last 6-7 years I've been to many social networking sites (even Yahoo! Answers). Seen so many endless fights/debates on politics, religion, cricket, football, bollywood.. but I'm not here to talk about all - only bollywood..
Despite of Hollywood and other regional films, Bollywood has its own fanbase and people of it worships SRK, Salman, Aamir, Hrithik, Akshay etc. next to GOD... For like past 4-5 years, the trend of Bollywood films has completely changed be it releashing strategy, box office concernment, genre considering target audience in mind..
1. At present, in just an weekend a film hits the 100cr mark.. and what is more interesting that the audience is more worried about the films BO collection than the story the film carries. Some people are interested just because his fav. actor acts in it, some interested cause his rivalry actor is in it and some just curious in general.. people gets busy RTing and the purpose of making a film gets lost.. Before the release of '3 idiots' everything was so normal but when it banged to the 200cr. mark it effects started spreading faster than 'Ebola diesease. Sigh!
2. 'Masala' films. Just reading this many of us will feel sick or pretend to feel sick as if having Aids is better than hearing this. Every year atlest 5-6 big banner masala/south remake films releases and upon its release every critic/intellectual/upper class audience starts panning down the film writing a slapstick review/sarcastic post just to look ubber cool though they have booked the FDFS. I mean if you know from very first that you're not gonna like this then why go for that film in theater just to show your sense of humor in front of the whole world??!! Just to make believe the world that you have a very good taste in cinema??! Well, I don't think so. You could've saved your bucks by not buying expensive tickets and popcorns...you've also saved your precious time and energy..
3. One thing I also see that people tag those films to be exclusively made for 'Rickshawalas','Chaiwalas' i.e. lower/middle class people. My question is: They don't belong to India?? They don't deserve to watch movies in theaters?? Ever you saw someone who love watching those kind of films mocked an Anurag Kasyap,Vishal Bharadwaj film like you do?? ...No?? Then this does not make him/her a better audience than you?! Decide yourself.
4. Some people gets mini heart attacks seeing the collection of a film like Kick, Chennai Express, HNY, ETT.. Last year on Fb/Twitter saw so many posts telling Madras Cafe should have done that much of business instead of CE. MC no doubt a good film and deserves more BO earning then it actually did. But why bashing CE for that?? Did this film or its crew told you to not watch MC?? Every penny a film makes, the reason why the industry still breathing. So instead of that, go 'nd watch a film of your taste in theater and then see its collection will automatically increase.
5. And lastly, fan fights. Its endless. No logic works here. Everyone is so proud of his/her devotee and only his/her rivalry actor had done or is doing great mistakes and shaming us infront of the world!
I'm not saying I didn't commit any of those mentioned points above. Actually I did, still do or may continue to do so. But atleast we can respect more those people giving us happiness/joy/sorrow/values for life through their movies..the people who indirectly encouraging Directors/Producers to make more films like Ugly, Haider, Launch Box etc.. So, I'm hoping for a better day. Cheers to Bollywood!!
